Myths Surrounding Hypnosis

hypnosis

Hypnosis is a type of therapy that is still being scrutinized in the mental health field. According to the Mayo Clinic, hypnosis is when an individual experiences an altered state of consciousness. While under hypnosis, a person’s attention is completely focused on the task at hand and this makes them more susceptible to being persuaded to rethink their actions. It can help control negative behavior and it can also help with those who wish to lose weight or quit smoking. Even though hypnotherapy is seen as being legitimate, myths still exist about this fascinating art.

While a person is experiencing hypnosis, a wide held belief is that the therapist is controlling that person and as a result, they lose all freewill. This is nothing but a myth. While under, an individual is in a more aware state of consciousness. There is no loss personality or freewill while under. This is one belief that has kept many from seeking a hypnotist, even though the belief is completely false.

One of the main myths that exist about hypnosis is that anyone can be hypnotized even if they do not want to. This is, again, very far from the truth. If one is not willing to experience hypnosis, then more than likely they will not be able to benefit from a series of hypnosis sessions. Even if one really desires to be placed in a trance, they still may not be suited for this form of treatment. Not everyone can be placed in a hypnotic state. Another myth that is also associated with hypnosis is that while under, one can lose all consciousness and subsequently develop amnesia. This is true for a very small fraction of people who try this alternative treatment. Some do experience spontaneous amnesia, but usually almost everyone will remember what happened while they were in a trance.

Hypnosis is one form of mental therapy that is widely misunderstood. Almost everyone can undergo this form of treatment and can benefit from its great outcomes. Those who use hypnosis must be willing to experience it to the fullest and not fall into the world of myths that it surrounds.

Self Hypnosis is Easier Than You Think

Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, Hypnotize No Comments »

Does self-hypnosis really help you achieve your goals? The answer is yes, and this is backed up by much research. But regular practice is the only way that you will be able to achieve effective self-hypnosis.

Self-hypnosis works by planting positive suggestions in the subconscious mind, and you have to be open to that process. It actually makes perfect sense. You wouldn’t require hypnosis if you could achieve your objectives consciously. So you must learn to consciously think about nothing at all.

Children particularly are able to respond positively to hypnosis techniques. It’s typically more difficult for adults to learn hypnosis. It’s because of the endless activity in the adult brain: thinking, worrying and planning, typically all at once. However, a child’s brain is more like a sponge. They have a much easier time absorbing information because they don’t have nearly as many distractions.

Learning self-hypnosis isn’t all that hard. However, the key is to remain relaxed and focused. This isn’t always easy, especially when your thoughts won’t calm down enough to let you relax.

The key to self-hypnosis is achieving a state of receptive relaxation. But it can be accomplished if you practice it daily. You need to still the conscious part of the brain so you can send suggestions to the subconscious.

It will take a lot of practice to learn the sort of focus required in order to become hypnotized. One popular way of learning the proper techniques to achieve success is by taking hypnosis courses. These courses are abundant on the internet, and can also often be found close to where you live.

Some people rely on a tape recording to implant suggestions in their subconscious. This may make it easier to allow the suggestions to filter into your subconscious. And if you practice yoga or other relaxation techniques, self-hypnosis is a natural extension of these activities.

Subliminal messages, usually involving recorded tapes, are used by some to help them stop smoking or lose weight. However, with self-hypnosis you have better control of your subconscious, making it the more effective approach.

Some lucky people are able to reach a state of self-hypnosis with very little effort. Some people might need a few weeks before they realize significant progress. Most people can typically reach a state of hypnosis with three weeks of practice. Some experts believe that people who challenge their minds on a regular basis can hypnotize themselves more easily.

With practice, learning self-hypnosis is completely possible if you can focus and clear your thoughts. This will ensure that your subconscious is receptive to the suggestions you give it.

Speed Reading Software Helps to Train the Brain

Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, Hypnotize, Manifestation, Visualization No Comments »

Learning speed reading is an important skill for both our personal and work related reading. It means that instead of reading one word at a time we can read a group of words together. This is generally called scan reading.

It is inevitable these days that you need to be able to move through documents at a rapid pace, picking out just the words and information that you need. This ability to read more quickly must be learned, since we are taught early on to read words out loud.

Speed reading software has been developed to meet these new learning demands. Quality software is available that has made learning speed reading interesting and even exciting. It can often be quite difficult to scan a document, especially if your mind is used to hearing the words first.

The difference between speed reading and just scanning a document is that you are better able to absorb information when you use proper speed reading techniques. Your mind and eyes will learn to work in harmony.

An added benefit of speed reading software is that it makes learning how to speed read fun and easy. Most of the free speed reading software incorporates games that, as you play them, are actually teaching you the techniques you need.

Eventually you will discover that you can scan through information quite quickly and you won’t have to constantly reread things. For people who constantly work with written documents, this training will also help you to identify the most important information so you can focus on it.

One of the problems in reading for information is that words often have more than one meaning. However, speed reading software offers a solution to this problem by providing games that require you to link words in a document in order to get the intended message.

You will find that when you use speed reading software properly, you will dramatically improve your grasp and retention of information and as a result produce better written work yourself. The improvement in your research and note taking skills will result in an improved ability to convey accurate information to your own readers.

Speed reading isn’t a difficult skill to learn and you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your home if you’re using online speed reading software. For many people this is the ideal way to learn something new without getting frustrated.
