This is a common question that I get, and it is one of the more common misconceptions and illusions surrounding hypnosis. It’s interesting that most people want some part of it to be true…as when they have been unsuccessful at losing weight on their own so they think that weight loss through hypnosis will just magically make them do what they know to be the right things instantly. But if the hypnotist using hypnosis was able to do that, then they would also be able to have that person do what the hypnotist wanted him to do for their own selfish needs. And that is what usually scares people, and rightly so. But the truth is that none of these remarks are true. Hypnosis is not a magic that takes over the subject’s mind. So a hypnotist is limited to what their client or subject is willing to accept. An experienced and well trained hypnotist is able to get their client to accept more than others.

What The Scientists Report

From close to 15000 worldwide studies reported in the NIH database on March of 2009, when doing a search for “dangers of hypnosis” I was unable to locate any studies that distinctly cited that hypnosis was dangerous. Add to that insurance rates for hypnotists malpractice are the lowest among professions and you can come to the conclusion on your own that hypnosis is not the danger that some think it is. Rather, hypnosis is a helpful tool for quick and efficient change. The only dangers that I can see is in not taking advantage of hypnotic techniques because you were afraid that it was dangerous.

What People Fear About Hypnosis

If you think hypnosis is dangerous you might hesitate to use this easy way to change. Well in all cases, the answer to this question is that hypnosis is absolutely not dangerous. So you can use weight loss by hypnosis to get back into shape without any worries. Part of what people seek when they are looking to use a hypnotist is to find someone who will make them do something that they can’t do or don’t want to do. Kind of like giving someone the power to make them into a zombie of sorts or Stepford wife. And this notion that they could have this kind of relationship with another person is what also scares them. Well the hypnotist can’t turn you into an unwilling participant in anything! The hypnotist can only help you with what you are willing and able to accomplish. Working with a hypnotist will help you to see, feel and act fully congruent with what you really want to accomplish. So there is no danger in seeking the help of a hypnotist or in using self hypnosis techniques to assist you in short or long term goals.

As you weigh the dangers of remaining the same, doing the same unhealthy behaviors day in and day out, you can clearly see that they certainly outweigh any mythical dangers you thought you would experience from hypnosis or self hypnosis. Because there is no greater joy than being in control of your own destiny.

The Peg Method Helps With Memory Improvement

The Peg Method is used if you need to remember varieties of lists for different things.  Some of the more common ones are for work and school.  This memory improvement system works to provide information that has to be in a certain order.  It acts as a filing cabinet to bring information back to life. 

The Peg Method works with numbers usually from 1 to 20 and the entire alphabet.  It incorporates new items along with the old items that you are working to remember.  The Peg Method uses a mental component so that you can “hang” the information that you are trying to remember.  Using this component helps to get that information back in your memory bank.

When using the Peg Method for memory improvement, it allows you to remember the things that you need to know.  You will be able to retrieve more information and more items.  Using pegs with numbers allows you to figure out how the items are supposed to be named.  So if you have several items in sequence you may say “Number 3 belongs to so and so.”

You can use the Peg Method as many times as you need to.  With this memory improvement technique, you can memorize various lists of things at the same time while you are using this method.  If you leave space between these lists and use the pegs with other methods, you can learn to memorize a large chunk of information.  

The Peg Method allows you to be flexible.  Some methods will use rhymes that involve numbers and shapes.  The way that you use them will vary on the Peg methods.  This helps to lower interruptions with the information that you want and need to retain in your memory bank.  

You can also use pegs with other memory improvement systems, such as the Loci system.  When you do that, this is a way that you can remember large portions of information. 

Using the Peg Method with the alphabet and another method can help you to remember up to a large amount of information.  You would need to have a memory link that is in a sequence of 10.  This gets connected to every letter of the alphabet.

Using the Peg Method is beneficial if you deal with a lot of numbers and letters of the alphabet.  You would have a filing system in your brain that you won’t want to get rid of.  This memory improvement system can help you go a long way.

Develop Telepathy - Telepathy is a method of communication in which two people exchange thoughts, feelings and emotions directly between their minds. This is a mental capacity which anyone can use with enough practice.

All of us have latent telepathic abilities. This is something which most of us cannot use consciously, however; like any other skill, telepathy must be practiced. There are times when we use telepathy without even realizing it; but what of you could Develop telepathy to the point where you could use it at will?

People tend to be skeptical about telepathy. It’s hard to blame them; since telepathy isn’t taught to us, you don’t see everyone going around using this ability. Regardless, you have used this ability. Think of an instance where you were in a terrific mood and then spoke with a friend who was down in the dumps. Even if you only spoke with them for a short time, you may have found yourself also feeling glum afterwards, sharing the same emotions as your friend.

It’s not the words the person is saying to you – it’s the transference of their emotions and feeling leaking into your own subconscious mind. This is a form of telepathy.

It has been shown in studies that the part of the subconscious mind which controls telepathy can be activated. What you need to do is to focus on the person with whom you want to communicate in this way.

All forms of communication have to be learned; you weren’t born knowing how to speak your native language, it is something you learned by observing and imitating your family.

The following methods are useful to help develop telepathy.

‘Mental-Muscle’ training

Just like you weren’t born knowing how to direct your vocal chords and mouth to speak a particular language, the ‘muscles’ responsible for telepathy need to be trained.

The part of your mind which controls telepathy is most readily reached while you are in a deeply relaxed trance state. You can produce this state through the use of relaxation techniques, including meditation.

You have to practice until it is easy for you to reach this state. Once you have managed to do this, you have started training your mind to use telepathy.

Focus

Learning to maintain your mind’s focus while you’re in a trance state can be quite difficult to master. During your next deep relaxation session, focus on someone you’d like to contact you.

Imagine this person and project happy thoughts. Visualize the person receiving your happy thoughts and feelings. Maintain your focus for as long as you think it takes the person to feel the connection between you.

Then, break off the focus. You need to break the telepathic link so that they can feel this communication being cut off and start trying to contact you with their mind.

This exercise should be done regularly; it will prepare you to be able to send and receive telepathic communications, which will be helpful as you begin practicing telepathy with a partner.

Partner Practice

Choose one person to be the receiver and one to be the sender. The sender should choose simple items to project. Choose items with clear, bright colors that are easily recognizable.

The receiver should keep a writing utensil and paper close at hand so that they can write down any communications they receive from the sender.

Afterwards, sender and receiver compare notes to assess how successful the exercise has been. Don’t get discouraged; telepathy is an ability which takes practice, but you will improve over time.
