A Doulas View On Hypnosis For Birth

General No Comments »

Since I began my journey into the world of childbirth and childbirth education, I have been fascinated by births that appear to be “pain-free.” I have had the privilege, as a doula(professional birth coach), to attend a few births that seamed to fall into this category. Mom would labor silently, seaming un-phased by the discomforts of birth. I was fascinated by these births, and the one thing they had in common, Hypnosis. These moms were using hypnosis for childbirth, and it worked. I decided that more women needed to know this was an option to them. I became certified to teach Hypnobabies, a complete childbirth course that also teaches self-hypnosis for childbirth.

I loved how Hypnobabies really involved the partner, and taught them how to help their “hypno-mom.” As a doula, it made for more confidant mothers and fathers. The moms were calm and relaxed, and very in-tune with their bodies, and their babies. Partners (dads) were calm in their ability, and were able to make informed consent when it came to mom and baby. I would like to share with you one of my favorite Hypnobabies births, because it shows the true power of hypnosis for birth. (Let me clarify a key word for you; in Hypnobabies we do not use the word “contraction” we use “birthing wave” or pressure wave.”)

“Peter called me at about 9:00 in the morning to tell me that Elizabeth was having regular birthing waves. He said she had been having strong birthing waves for about 2 hours. When I asked him how far apart the birthing waves were, he told me they were about 1-3 minutes apart. He put Elizabeth on the phone, she was very relaxed, and I could tell she was in a deep state of hypnosis. She told me she wasn’t sure that this was really labor (the power of her hypnosis. She told me later that she didn’t feel anything until her baby was working his way down the birth canal) When I arrived at their house we decided we needed to leave, and Peter began getting the final things ready and out to the car. I went to help Elizabeth, she was still very calm, but I could tell she was in transition by the way she looked, acted, and the way she was standing.

(Transition is the final stage of labor when a mother finished dilating to 10cm) Her birthing waves were very regular about 1-3 minutes apart. She used me to lean on during her pressure waves, she responded powerfully to her deepening cues every time I used them. When she had a birthing wave, I would tell her “release” or “peace” and all the tension would leave her body. She would completely relax and go loose and limp. Then her pressure wave would peak, and I would remind her to “relax” or “peace.” It was so wonderful to see these hypnosis techniques working so wonderfully well. We arrived at the hospital at about 10:50. When we arrived, her baby was already crowning. After taking a few deep breaths, she said she was ready, and with Peter supporting her from behind, she began to push. She was completely silent as she pushed 2 times, and her baby was out. He was completely healthy, and alert. Both her and the baby were in perfect health, and happy and alert.”
It was such a fast and amazing birth, and she was a strong, confident mother. With the support of an amazing spouse, and her Hypnobabies techniques, she had a very quick birth.

Not all Hypnobabies births are this fast, but most of them are this easy and comfortable.
If you are an expectant mother, and would like to bring your baby into the world, alert, awake, and without the side effects of drugs; Hypnobabies may be the course for you. Hypnobabies is a complete childbirth education course including all topics of pregnancy from nutrition and exercises to optimal positioning for birth.

How to Engage in Astral Projecting

Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, Hypnotize, Manifestation, Visualization No Comments »

A lot of people find that there are some things which are stumbling block sot them as they attempt to learn astral projecting. However, this is something which all of us can do – it’s a natural ability which every man and woman already has. Much like riding a bike, you don’t forget how; but you do have to keep in practice in order to do it well.

One major stumbling block that many people encounter is relaxation. When learning astral projecting the mind and the body have to be deeply relaxed. This can take some practice, but there are many relaxation techniques that you can employ to help your mind and body relax. There are breathing techniques and muscle relaxation techniques that you can try.

When astral projecting, you need an environment which allows you to be comfortable and fully relaxed. The tips in this article will help you to relax and begin astral projecting.

*Start by removing any tight, restrictive clothing and any jewelry. Some people even find taking off their clothes to be helpful when astral projecting, but whatever works for you is the right way to go.

*It is easiest to practice astral projecting in a dark room. You don’t want it to be so dark that you can’t see anything with your eyes open, but it should be dark enough that no light penetrates through when you close them.

*Orient your body on a north-south axis. Your head should be towards the north – if you are unsure how to orients yourself, use the sun as your guide.

*When you are astral projecting, your clothes should be loose and comfortable, but should also keep you warm.

*You should be doing this at a time when you are going to be free from distraction. Which means that you want a noise free place and time to practice your astral projecting.

*It is time to enter a state of relaxation, (this is where you want to practice your relaxation techniques.)

*Give yourself suggestions which will help you remember the goings-on of your astral projecting; try telling yourself “I will remember” at least five times. In order to make sure that you can remember all of the details later, keep a pen and paper handy so that you can take notes on what happened once you return from the astral planes.

*Continue to practice your breathing.

*While you relax yourself with your breathing techniques, start focusing on the blackness in front of you.

*Start to focus on a point which is about one foot away from your forehead. Once you have done this, move your focus to a point about six feet away.

*Imagine a line which runs at a ninety degree angle from this point six feet away to your body.

Following these simple steps will prepare you for astral projecting. It is important that we note that you also have to have mental control of what you are going to do. You don’t want your astral body to just go out and bounce through the astral planes with no direction. You can go anywhere, do anything so it is important that you have direction.

There are some astral projecting practitioners that are able to talk with loved ones they have lost. There are others that take part in activities that they are not able to do in the physical realm of reality. Contrary to what you may think, you have done this already. Now you need to have control over what is happening. Those dreams that you wake up and remember really well were actually astral traveling. Now it is time for you to learn to do it intentionally to reap the benefits of what astral projecting can do for you.
